Lead Cabinet Installer

Timber Barn – Elmira, ON

The Timber Barn is looking for a passionate and talented lead cabinet installer to fill a full-time position.

Located in St. Jacobs (millwork shop in Elmira, Ontario), in the last 5 years our kitchen division has grown to be synonymous with quality and style. We are quickly becoming one of the most sought after custom kitchen companies in and beyond southern Ontario.

Position Overview

As Cabinet Installer you will install custom high-end kitchen cabinetry for clients throughout Waterloo region and southern Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install custom cabinetry in the client’s homes according to the supplied drawings
  • Install crown molding, base trim, etc. where required
  • Install hardware on cabinet doors and drawers
  • Scribe material to uneven surfaces

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of cabinetry install experience
  • Valid G license and clean driving abstract

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings
  • Capable of lifting 50-75 lbs.
  • Skilled in using woodworking tools and techniques
  • Physical ability to do repetitious work (up and down movements, carrying/handling heavy cabinetry components)
  • Courteous and friendly while dealing with clients
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Organized and level-headed
  • High standards of workmanship

Millwork Fabricator/Installer

Located in St. Jacobs (millwork shop in Elmira, Ontario), the Timber Barn manufactures and installs timber frames, custom staircases, custom front entrances, trim packages, box beams, custom kitchens, etc. Our culture is based on a team-oriented atmosphere that enables innovation.

In the last 5 years, our millwork division has grown to be synonymous with quality and style. We are quickly becoming one of the most sought after architectural millwork and custom kitchen companies in, and beyond, southern Ontario. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and reliable when working independently. Considering resumes from seasoned workers with 3+ years of building/installing experience.

We are looking for someone with…

  • Hand tools (drills, striking tools, marking tools, etc.)
  • Tools such as table saws, mitre saws, etc. are provided on-site
  • Personal vehicle (driving to and from work – bus service not convenient)
  • G Drivers Licence with a clean driving abstract
  • Company vehicle used for the job site and material transportation

This person is expected to be very detail-oriented, excellent at problem-solving, and an efficient, independent worker. They also must be able to read and interpret drawings/blueprints and physically capable for large material transportation. This individual must also be professional and courteous, able to communicate with builders and homeowners.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and workmanship.

Sales/Estimator

Timber Barn – Elmira, ON

As a member of the sales staff at Timber Barn you are responsible for seeking out, building and maintaining profitable business relationships with our clients. In this role you will often be the “first face” of the company and should be prepared to represent us well. Sales staff should have an intimate understanding of the products we offer and be the catalyst that gets each project off the ground.

Estimators are responsible for gathering pertinent information and generating quotes for our potential customers. A strong sense of building and installing procedures is essential, paired with a knowledge of material value. Estimators should have a finger on the pulse of our industry, being conscious of suppliers, market trends and new developments and methodology within.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary millwork salesperson, cross-selling a range of custom woodworking products – stairs, timber frames, box beams, front entry systems, wood accent pieces and cabinetry
  • Work alongside the estimating team to produce accurate and complete job estimates
  • Create contract proposals and submit to potential clientele
  • Communicate scopes of work to the drafting and building teams to ensure project accuracy
  • Build, and maintain positive relationships with clients
  • Meet with home-owners and builders in various environments
  • Seek out new revenue-generating opportunities
  • Achieve sales goals, set together with the General Manager
  • Communicate effectively using email, phone, text and other modes of technology and social media

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the construction industry – Experience in both commercial and residential considered an asset (5+ years)
  • Ability to complete take-offs, estimates, material ordering and project start-up responsibilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Understand basic job-costing and accounting functions
  • Independent, self-motivated worker
  • Ability to work flexible hours

Salary commensurate with experience.
